tUnE-yArDs - “Doorstep“
I downloaded the upcoming release from tUnE-yArDs yesterday and felt the need to post this track immediately. w h o k i l l is coming out this Tuesday (4/19) on 4AD. I feel like I’ve been seeing “tUnE-yArDs” appear everywhere. The fact that it also closely resembles “Tuneage” might have made me extra excited to check this out.
Despite the silly/annoying punctuation New England native Merrill Garbus chooses to identify with, I’m really enjoying her minimalistic, slightly scatterbrained lo-fi indie pop. This song reminds me of 60s R&B, particularly the ‘sha-la-las’ and wavering vocals, which in turn I automatically associate with summertime. Why? Who knows, music just has that affect on me. Since summertime is coming up, this song is perfect for right now.
